Ancient Quarry Discovered in Israel
The ancient quarry dates back 2,030 years, according to excavation director Dr. Ofer Sion. The immense size of the stones, which measure up to three meters long and two meters high and wide, “indicates it was highly likely that the large stones that were quarried at the site were destined for use in the construction of Herod’s magnificent projects in Jerusalem, including the Temple walls,” he said.
He also estimated that a large work force among Herod's estimated 10,000 laborers produced the stones by creating detachment channels with the use of a one-pound chisel. “After the channels were formed, the stones were severed from the bedrock using hammers and chisels,” Dr. Sion explained.
“We know from historical sources that in order to build the Temple and other projects which Herod constructed, such as his palace, hundreds of thousands of various size stones were required – most of them weighing between two and five tons each”, said the director of the excavation. “The dimensions of the stones that were produced in the quarry...are suitable for the Temple walls."
“The massive quarrying effort, on the order of hundreds of thousands of stones, lowered the topography of Jerusalem in the vicinity of the Old City," Dr. Sion said. "Today, with the exposure of this quarry, the intensity of the building projects as described in the historical sources can be proven… It is clear that Herod began quarrying closest to the Temple and worked away from it: first he exploited the stone on the nearby ridges and subsequently he moved on to quarry in more distant regions.”
Dr. Sion described the ancient “high-tech method of removing and transporting the stones on rolling wooden fixtures, some of which were pulled by camels."
Other artifacts discovered at the site include metal plates, referred to in the Talmud and which were used as fulcrums to sever the stones from the bedrock, as well as coins and pottery shards from the end of the Second Temple period in the first century, before the beginning of the non-Jewish calendar.
More than 60 people worked on the dig, which lasted approximately two weeks.
Natural Alternative for Biting Bugs!
This is one of the best NATURAL ALTERNATIVES I have ever used to ward off the biting bugs such as chiggers, mosquitoes AND ticks!! We had a large party day after the 4th of July with about 40 people - about dusk the skeeters came 'round and everyone was getting aggravated. One gentleman was going to make a run for bug spray when I brought out the new Proprietary blend of No-Deet Lemon Dream...wow...not only did everyone LOVE the lemony-vanilla smell - everyone agreed that it kept the little buggers at bay all night!
This proprietary blend of essential oils is in a base of fractionated coconut oil so that it spreads easier, but you can also dilute it even further if you choose.
This stuff is great - and it's offered by In Ancient Footsteps at a very reasonable price as well! Order now for the low price of only $12.00 for 15ml!

Peppermint Essential Oil Uses
Peppermint has many uses. It can be used to help ease migraines, upset stomachs, fatigue, congestion and various skin irritations.
Migraines: Relief from migraines has been reported by those who suffer this form of headache. Just rub a little Peppermint essential (diluted with olive oil or carrier oil of your choice) on your forehead, back of neck and solar plexus. Try also adding a drop or two of Lavender Essential oil to the Pepperming/Carrier oil blend as Lavender is also helpful to relieve migraines.
Upset Stomachs: Ever wonder why restaurants offer peppermint candy after a meal? Well, because it can relieve an upset stomach! So instead of adding those extra calories to your diet, just simply inale a bit of pure Peppermint Essential oil straight from the bottle, or rub a drop or two on the tummy. Also enjoy a flavorful water by adding a drop (don't add more or it will be too strong) of Peppermint EO to about 16oz of pure water .. ummmmm!
Fatigue/Exhaustion: REVIVE yourself! Peppermint is a stimulant and can aid with both physical and mental exhaustion. So just take a good whiff from your peppermint bottle, or put a dab on each wrist to stay alert and ready.
Congestion: Suffering from summer's pollen? Have a bit of sinus congestion? Well, diluted Peppermint is a wonderful treatment for either stuffy noses or sinus headaches. Again, simply inhale the diluted oil (or straight from the bottle) to help clear a stuffy nose, or blend with some diluted Lavender essential oil and gently rub into cheekbones and forehead to ease a sinus headache.
Cool the 'heat' of a sunburn or fever by adding about eight drops of the diluted oil blend to a tepid bath. Peppermint will not help a sunburn heal more quickly, but will help the burning "chill out." For sunburn, use Lavender Essential Oil - it takes the sting out almost immediately and helps in the process of allowing the skin to heal itself more quickly.
Poison Ivy and other itchies: Here's a great tip - I know as I'm prone to get poison ivy if it's in a 50mile radius! Add a few drops of Peppermint essential oil to commercial Calamine Lotion (or any other anti-itch preparation) to help ease the itch of poison ivy rashes.
